Setting up your root domain with Kyvio

In our article Setting up a Custom Domain With an SSL certificate for your Kyvio sites, we explain to you how to setup your domain mapping and install an SSL certificate. In this slightly more advanced article, we will explain how you can use your root domain for your Kyvio site as well.

Our standard supported way to map your custom domain to your Kyvio site is using www.yoursite.com or sub.yoursite.com.
Your root domain, in this case, would be yoursite.com.

Some people want to make sure their site also works when a visitor types yoursite.com in their browser. To work with that we have various options.

            1. Redirect your root domain to www.yoursite.com or sub.yoursite.com

Meaning a visitor types in yoursite.com and he gets redirected to www.yoursite.com or sub.yoursite.com. We are going to show explain how you can add a www redirect on a couple of DNS providers.

How to manage a redirect to WWW with:

2 CNAME on your Root domain

As we explain in our article Setting up a Custom Domain With an SSL certificate for your Kyvio sites on how to set up a CNAME for www.yoursite.com or sub.yoursite.com for SOME DNS managers they allow you to set up a CNAME on your ROOT domain as well.

This is more advanced and only a few registrars allow this; so you will need to check with your DNS management tool/registrar if this is possible for you.

Namecheap does allow you to set up a CNAME on your root. However, we did find one problem with Namecheap and doing a CNAME on the root and that is that your SPF records will not validate (and this will affect your email sending deliverability for that domain). As soon as we have a solution for this we'll update this article.

            3. Use a 3rd party service
As described in this article you can use a 3rd party service like WWWizer:
